Nation Ford News

October 21 is the absolute last day for seniors to have their pictures taken to be in the yearbook.

For the past several weeks, seniors who did not get their pictures taken over the summer have been asked to sign up for a make-up time on Tuesday, Oct 21 and Wednesday, Oct 22.
Due to technical issues, the Wednesday, Oct 22 make-up date has been cancelled and all senior make-up pictures will occur Tuesday, October 21 from 8:00 a.m. and 12:15 p.m.
Seniors originally assigned to Wednesday, Oct 22 have been assigned a new “sitting” time for Tuesday, Oct. 21.
Please remind your student to check by the yearbook table at lunch for his or her new appointment time. In addition, all senior teachers will post schedules in their classrooms.

Nation Ford High School sent 3 Unified soccer teams to the SC Special Olympics Fall Games.  Nation Ford was represented by 8 Special Olympic athletes and 6 partners.  There were 2 Special Olympic athletes and 5 partners who trained with the team but were not able to make it to the actual event.

Winning a gold medal was the black team with Kendall Little, Cory Johnsen, Amber Wesson, Carter Jarrett and Taylor Queen.  Both the white and red teams came away with silver medals.  The white team consisted of David Newman, Ben Gillam, Brody Hanushek, and Jake Flynn.  The red team was comprised of Matt Preusser, Jim Jacobs, Sara Oxenfeld, Ethan Jarrett and Gabriel Jarrett.  Ben, Kendall, and Sara led the team in scoring with 5 goals each.  The partners did a terrific job of helping their fellow students succeed on the field which was awesome to see.

The 5th Annual Carolinas Student Hunger Drive  this is our fourth year participating) will take place the month of October. We are excited about your support as we embark on a great district wide tradition that our community will look forward to year after year. With your efforts, we will work together in the quest to end hunger in Charlotte and the surrounding communities.  The cans that we collect, will come right back to the Fort Mill community to help those individuals in need.  Nation Ford High will be competing with local and Charlotte  area schools.  Please encourage your students to bring in cans next week especially to their first block class.

Monday night the Student Council and the LEAD Class competed in the 5th Annual Student Hunger Drive Talent Competition. We are happy to announce that our students took home 1st place!  The prize for winning is 1,000 pounds of food to add to our food drive!  Please continue to add to the pounds the next 6 weeks to help stop hunger in our community. Students, Parents, and Students bring in the CANS!

Blithe Spirit is a comedy by Noel Coward. The story is about a man Charles Condomine, an author and his current wife, Ruth. Charles is writing a new book about mediums so he invites Madame Arcati, a local medium for dinner and a séance so he can study her. Unbeknownst to Madame Arcati, Charles and Ruth don't believe in mediums and think her to be a harmless fake. But during the séance Charles' first wife Elvira comes through but only Charles can see and hear her. This leads to many comic misinterpretations. This is a fun and lighthearted comedy.

Show dates are October 16th - 18th at 7:30 in the Nation Ford Auditorium. Ticket sold at the door. $8 students and $10 standard. There will be a Student Rush Friday October 17th for only $5 for students.
